Oshkosh Magazine, back in bl- ... green
How exciting: The new Oshkosh Magazine.
Yeah, just in time for me to start planning the next issue, here comes this one to remind me. I'd go on about how awesome it is, but I'll just let you skim through it yourself instead.

Erin(n)- My name is Stan
(although I always sign off anonymously), and today began as every day does- I search random blogs to see what the world is talking about. You see, I am an investigative journalist, having retired several years ago from a MAJOR San Francisco newspaper. My hobby is checking out random blogs to get a feel for how America thinks about the many controversial issues of the day, and just who is listening to whom. I love it when a blogger makes me reconsider my position on a matter of national concern- not to mention world-wide issues. All this brings me to your blog site today. While you certainly are faithfull in blogging each day (it seems), I am amazed at the content you present. First the hard stuff- your blog seems immature and self-serving. Really, Erin(n), who cares about what music you 'just love', or why you had a bad day at work? And let's not forget the long blog about the pants! REALLY! You make your fiance look like a real schmuck- is he? I spent the day researching many of your bolgs and they all revolve around you. Which brings me to the GOOD STUFF. I read your profile- having read your blogs I expected you to be 13 years old, masking your blog as your personal 'Dear Diary' locked and hidden under your pillow. What I found instead was a young, professional journalist, working for a credible newspaper, whose first job (and I am assuming here), is to work on the Lifestyle page. Oh well, that beats the obituaries and the classifieds- (believe me I've been there)! As a golfer, I was intrigued by the blog regarding the "Oshkosh Magazine". I thumbed through it. It is great- and in the fuzzy type of the inside page, I note that you are the Editor. Cudos to you! Quite impressive for a young journalist!
Please don't take offense when I ask you to challenge yourself to blog about issues that affect us all- dare your readers , not to focus on themselves, but rather to ask questions about common issues of the day- like Haliburton, unrest in the Middle East, immigration, the AIDS epidemic, and (God help me here) even global warming. That's interesting stuff- and love it or hate it, posting your opinion will dare others to respond- and that's where solutions might be found. I hate to see fellow professionals loose any opportunity, via the blog forum, to challenge others to THINK. All this fluff about weddings, Tom/Kat, what band you like, who's visiting you this weekend, and on and on and on-(see I did read some of your posts), that's "Dear Diary" stuff and probably no one but your circle of family and friends appreciates it. That's stuff for cell phone calls home or letters or even a therapist. I'd like to cahllenge you to choose an issue or concern and write a blog about it- actually taking a side, pro or con, and MAKING me and potentially millions of others wonder if your stance is right. That, my dear, is the essence of journalism. When you write about yourself, you are an author. When you write your opinion, (and I see you are very opinionated), you challenge me to agree with your position or to respond in rebuttle. It's the challenge you present that makes you alive! And really, Erin(n) the world doesn't care about your pants anyway.
Good luck in the future. While I'm off to another blog tomorrow- I just might check back to see if you have the 'stuff' to ever make me interested again.
Good day.
Um, by the way, "investigative journalist" from a "MAJOR" newspaper, "loose" is actually spelled "lose." Good job, though.
Erin(n), I enjoy your blog. And your pants.
